Frank Hatherley’s multi-media professional career has covered radio, film journalism, theatre directing, TV drama producing with the BBC, and a London university senior lectureship in media studies. But he has always returned to playwriting, usually comic, often with songs.

During 2006/2011 Frank has written thousands (and thousands) of words for local residents' group Community Action Rozelle, CARz for short, in their objection to two inappropriate inner-city developments in his neighbourhood. See the CARz website at htpp://rozelle.e-newsletter.com.au

As a film critic, he contributes regularly to Screen International, in London, and as a theatre critic and journalist to Stage Whispers, in Sydney.

RECENTLY: 'The Merry Widow' was staged by the Northern Territory's OperatuNiTy Company, at the CDU Theatre, Darwin, in November 2010. 'Manly Mates' got a new production by Canberra Dramatics in January 2011. After a May 2011 public reading in Gosford of 'Boxed', his trilogy of plays about modern communications, he was invited by Uniting Productions, Gosford, to stage a full production in October.

Here's a nice piece from The Express Advocate, 12 October 2011:

And 'The Ripper Show' got an American airing in October/November 2011 when the Lapeer Community Theatre in Almont, Michigan performed it at the local Legion Hall, directed by Sally Webb Eilerson - she was backstage in a memorable 1978 production of 'Ripper' at the Michigan State University. She said she's never forgotten it!

FUTURE: Frank is still writing his play about Billy Hughes, Australia's WW1 Prime Minister; and also 'The Happy Wanderers', a comedy about getting lost in the bush (and in life).
